July 31, Saturday - Bookstock: The Green Mountain Festival of Words, On the Green, Woodstock, 10 am - 5 pm. Environmental author Bill McKibben will speak at 11 am in the Town Hall Theater August 1, Sunday: Town Meeting with Senator Bernie Sanders, Woodstock Union High School, free dinner 5:30 pm, meeting 6:00 pm. Discuss what we can do locally, and in Washington, to provide health care to all; create green jobs and reduce our carbon footprint; make higher education more affordable; protect the most vulnerable in our society

Woodstock Elementary Farm To School “Grow It” Series

The Woodstock Elementary School Farm to School progralm is sponsoring series of films, workshops, and demonstrations. The public is invited and encouraged to attend all events. See indivdual entries below for registration information.
  • Friday, February 26, 5:30 p.m. "Food Inc." (Not for children!). Held at the Woodstock Elementary School. Call WES at 457-2522 to register.
  • Saturday, Feb. 27, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - Ordering seeds and planning a garden that grows well in Vermont and that can be preserved over the winter. Start early with cold hardy vegetables. Gardening Series, held at the True For Now Farm, Woodstock. Call 457-2508 to register.
  • Saturday, March 6, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - Composting, permaculture, fruit trees, berries, soil testing and amendments. Gardening Series. Held at the True For Now Farm, Woodstock. Call 457-2508 to register.
  • Monday, March 8, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. How to Farm With A Full Time Job.  Held at the Woodstock Elementary School. Call WES at 457-2522 to register.
  • Saturday, March 13,11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - Growing vegetables in raised beds, terraces, fields, hoop structures and greenhouses. Gardening Series. Held at the True For Now Farm, Woodstock. Call 457-2508 to register.

  • Saturday, March 27, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. - Chickens, Turkeys, Ducks. Coop design, rotating pastures, compost, stew chickens, wintering a flock, predators.
